Kang is Manipur's form of Rath Yatra. Lord Jagannath leaves the temple in a chariot locally called kang, pulled by devotees through the Imphal valley. The observance continues for about ten days, with worship, communal singing and smaller neighbourhood processions. It is a living religious festival rather than a staged tourism show, so visitors should follow local cues around the chariot and temple grounds.
